This past Valentine’s weekend we celebrated our second year anniversary of our first date (2-14-14). We ventured out to Jordan Lake in Apex, NC. We arrived on a beautiful and chilly Saturday afternoon and set up camp (i.e. we backed the teardrop into our site and promptly jumped inside to stay warm). We spent most of our time in the trailer reading “The Bassoon King” by Rainn Wilson to each other.
We took a few hikes around the woods. We weren’t equipped to truly rough it, so we went down the road for dinner at a drive through, and cranked up the heat.
Over the night the temperature dropped into the teens, but under the covers, we were nice and warm. In the morning we slept in to avoid facing the cold. Eventually we set out to see some of the small towns of NC in the vicinity.
We visited Apex, Sanford, and Pittsboro downtowns and saw some great parks. We decided against a second night of camping because of the expecting freezing rain.
Teardrop is still barebones, but this trip gave us a good idea of what little fixes will make it even more comfortable. Shoe sleeves on the walls to keep dirty shoes off the floor, mesh holders on the walls to hold items up. One tap-on-tap-off LED light is more than sufficient for late night reading (perfect Xmas gift from Papa Baer). Some shelving at the feet will be good for keeping things off the floor.
We’ll post pictures once we start those projects! All-in-all: great first trip with the teardrop.
